Mr. Coffey received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University (NIU) in 1987. After receiving his bachelor's degree, John passed the CPA examination in November 1987 and earned the Elijah Watt Sells Award for his performance on that exam. This award was presented to the top 115 scores of a total 72,000 candidates nationwide. John was an accounting instructor and textbook author for the next two years at NIU while he completed a masters degree in accounting. Upon graduation, he went to work for Coopers & Lybrand, a large public accounting firm that is now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Since becoming a licensed CPA in 1990, John earned professional designations which prove his commitment to the quality and value of service provided to his clients.
Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) - The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has established a credential for CPAs who specialize in personal financial planning. The PFS credential is granted exclusively to CPAs with considerable experience who can prove competency by passing a comprehensive exam.
Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) - The National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) trains and certifies CVAs to perform business valuations. Through rigorous training and testing, CVAs demonstrate they are qualified to provide capable and professionally executed business appraisal services before earning this designation.
Ms. Nash spent the majority of her career in the healthcare field, obtaining her RN degree in 1983. She spent most of the next 17 years working as a Critical Care Manager at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. She left Copley Hospital in 1999 to take a position as Nurse Manager for Advocate Healthcare working at Good Samaritan Hospital. In 2003, Josie accepted a position with Dreyer Medical Clinic as the Administrative Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center in Aurora, IL. In that role she was responsible for the all aspects of the operations including fiscal responsibility and budget management.
From 2003 until 2010, Josie was a part-time tax preparer with the firm during the busy seasons. In 2010, she accepted a full-time position at Coffey & Associates PC, where she has since worked alongside Mr. Coffey in learning the different technical roles assigned to her. Josie’s current job duties include assisting with personal and corporate tax preparation and assisting clients with accounting needs. Josie has successfully completed QuickBooks® Advisor certification exams each year since 2011, and she continues to provide in-depth QuickBooks® training to many of the firm’s clients.
Josie obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Waubonsee Community College in 1983, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Excelsior College in 1998, and eventually her Masters of Arts, Organizational Leadership degree from Lewis University in 2008.
